Our team
At Howearth Psychology, the team of psychologists bring a genuine, client-focused perspective to therapy, shaped by their lived experiences and commitment to affirming care. They understand that seeking help can feel daunting, especially for those who have not always felt seen or respected in traditional mental health spaces.
Aaron Howearth (He/They)
Director and Principal Clinical Psychologist
Master of Psychology (Clinical) in 2022 at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and is currently pursuing a PhD at RMIT University, specialising in ADHD research.
Aaron Howearth, the principal psychologist, has a strong background in working with neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ clients. His approach is warm, practical, and deeply respectful, focusing on building trust and working at a pace that feels comfortable to each client.
Aaron draws on evidence-based therapies, including CBT, EMDR, and ACT, and has experience supporting people with trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and navigating identity or life transitions.
Dani Croaker (She/They)

Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology at Monash University.

They have worked in neuro-affirming private practices across Melbourne and have a special interest in Autism, ADHD, and their overlap with the LGBTQIA+ community. Dani enjoys supporting children, parents, adolescents, and adults.
Sandy Burriss (She/Her)
Practice Manager
Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) and a Grad Dip in Psychology.
Keeping the practice running smoothly Sandy (She/Her) works part-time as the Practice Manager at Howearth Psychology and is the glue that holds our team together.
She has worked in various roles, managing teams and projects and hails from the sunny UK where she specialised in client experience. She has a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) and a Grad Dip in Psychology. She is passionate about how people operate and revisits her studies, undertaking a Grad Dip (Adv) in Psychology whilst coordinating a household of four young children with her partner.
Yoda
Practice Supervisor
Associate Diploma of Booping & Snacking.
Yoda joined the Howearth Family in 2014, as a spritely 3-year-old Pomeranian X Sheltie who was enjoying a holiday from family life at the Pearcedale RSPCA.
Always happy and friendly, he quickly became Aaron’s jogging partner, and seems to have forgotten that, a decade on, he and Aaron have fading juvinescence, and is blithely unware that Aaron’s knees can no longer keep up with his boundless energy.
When viewed through the lens of difference, rather than disorder, we often find that it’s expectations the warrant changing, rather than people.
Our approach to holistic wellness
Howearth Psychology offers therapy that meets clients where they are. The team understands that mental health is never one-size-fits-all especially for people who are neurodivergent or part of the queer community. Their practice is shaped by lived experience, clinical expertise, and a genuine belief in everyone’s right to feel safe, respected, and understood.
Their approach is evidence-based, practical, and person-centred. A range of therapies are used to suit individual needs, including:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Mindfulness-based strategies
- Trauma-informed support
- Assessment & support for ADHD and autism
Howearth Psychology considers the whole picture; how clients think, feel, and relate to the world around them. This includes the impact of stress, trauma, identity, and connection in everyday life. Every session is designed to be affirming and free of judgement.
Therapy at Howearth Psychology is about supporting you in navigating life’s challenges in a way that feels manageable and empowering. Whether support is needed for trauma, neurodivergence, low mood, or daily stress, the team is there to help each person find what works for them.

Frequently Asked Questions
It’s completely normal to have questions when beginning something new. Here are some that people often ask. If you’d like more information, we’re here to help.
What kinds of people do you work with?
We work with adults, teens, and families from a wide range of backgrounds. Many of the people we support are neurodivergent, part of the LGBTQIA+ community, or looking for a space where their identity and lived experience are respected and understood.
You're welcome to connect with us whether or not you have a diagnosis. You can be Autistic, without experiencing the level of difficulties required to warrant a diagnosis.
What issues can you help with?
People come to us for support with many different experiences — such as worry, low mood, stress, past hurts, identity questions, relationship concerns, grief, overwhelm, or feeling out of balance. If you’re unsure whether we’re the right fit, you’re welcome to reach out and we can explore that together.
What if I’ve had a bad experience with counselling before?
It’s completely understandable to feel cautious, and many people share similar concerns. We aim to create a space where you feel respected, safe, and listened to. You’re free to move at your own pace, and there’s no pressure to share anything before you’re ready.
Do you offer telehealth services?
Yes. We offer telehealth appointments for people across Australia. You can access support from wherever feels most comfortable for you. All you need is a private space and an internet-enabled device.
How do I book my first session?
You can book a session by sending an enquiry through our website or giving us a call. We’re here to answer any questions you may have and to help find a time that suits you — either in person or online.
Are you sex positive?
Yes. Howearth Psychology takes a sex positive perspective: We argue that all sexual interactions between consenting adults are valid and should be destigmatised. We do not accept the sex- or kink-shaming of others in any way
